We all have our rough edges, dark corners and gnarly scars (both seen and unseen). The only way to find the light on the other-side is through absolute radical acceptance. Darkness may be inevitable, but it can’t deter our path without our permission. We must learn to sit with it. Embrace it. Acknowledge its existence. Work to hold that loving space within, and say aloud to that darkness “ I see you, I appreciate what you’ve done for me in the past when I needed you, and I want you to know that I you don’t need to protect me anymore”.

I think many of us have this idea that travel can be a cure all. “If I can just escape this town, this ex, this job, everything will get better”. I would argue this is one of the greatest misconceptions about traveling and one that I’ve personally had to face head on.

The idea that changing external factors will magically transform your life is a farce. The first week abroad, maybe first month even, you’ll enjoy a nice honeymoon phase for sure.
